The Ashanti Region is in Asanteman and centrally located in the middle belt of Ghana. It lies between longitudes 0.15W and 2.25W, and latitudes 5.50N and 7.46N. The region shares boundaries with four of the ten political regions, Brong-Ahafo Region in the north, Eastern region in the east, Central region in the south and Western region in the South west. The region is divided into 27 districts, each headed by a District Chief Executive.

DAY 1 (Thursday)

Depart Accra 08:00hrs for Cape Coast, Central region. Noted as the Tourism Capital of Ghana due to the amalgam of attractions located here, Cape Coast is three hours’ drive from Accraalong a first highway and through famous historic towns, villages and districts like Gomoa, Mankessim and Anomabo. Interact with locals en route through brief stops. Guided Tour of the UNESCO-named World Heritage Site of Elmina Castle famous for its role in slave trading in the 15th Century onwards. It now houses a world class museum displaying several relics of the infamous trade in human beings. Following Elmina Castle tour and a lunch break, tour continues to the world famous Kakum National Park with its Canopy Walkway. Kakum is a diverse forest area 350square miles in size which is filled with hundreds of species of plant life of medicinal value. The forestis also home to various mammal species. The Canopy Walkway is a suspended wooden platform held in place by ropes and metal cords. It is 30 meters above ground level and consists of 6 breathtaking stretches you need to complete to reach the exit point and descend to ground level. Transfer to hotel. Dinner & overnight.


DAY 2 (Friday)

Depart hotel for Tour of some the most  Mountainous parts of Ghana including Mount Gemi and possibly Mount Afadjato, Ghana’s highest peak, where it may be possible to do a climb.  Picnic Lunch. This part of the Volta Region is also infested with numerous Waterfalls, a typical example being the Wli Falls which features on the itinerary. Return to hotel for evening Traditional Dance exposee & dinner. Overnight.


 DAY 3 (Saturday)

8am tour of the Manhyia Palace & Museum. Manhyia has been the official residence of the Asante Kings since 1924. It may be possible to see and dialogue with the Asantehene at his palace, if arrangements to do so are confirmed. Lunch break.Return trip to Accra, transfer to hotel. Dinner at hotel. Overnight.


DAY 4 (Sunday)

08:00hrs: Depart for Accra. End of tour.
